# LiLi Cal on iPhone and iPad

> How the iPhone and iPad app relates to the Mac app: one App Store listing, what syncs through iCloud, where to find each feature, and what differs between the two platforms.

## Résumé

LiLi Cal for iPhone and iPad shares the Mac app's calendar core and App Store listing. Events and tasks are your system Calendar and Reminders; Days and settings sync through your own iCloud; the menu bar is replaced by a tab bar and by Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets.

## À retenir

- Mac, iPhone, and iPad are one universal purchase under one App Store listing; download once while it is free and it is yours on all of them.
- Events and tasks are the system Calendar and Reminders on every device; Days entries and preferences sync through your private iCloud database.
- On iPhone the panel becomes a tab bar (Month, Agenda, Tasks, Days, Focus, Settings) plus widgets; on iPad and in landscape it splits into two columns.
- Some Mac features have no iPhone equivalent yet: keyboard shortcuts, the eight accent colors, iCal / webcal holiday links, and the Pomodoro is off by default.

### One listing, every device

LiLi Cal uses Apple's universal purchase: the Mac app and the iPhone / iPad app are the same product in App Store Connect, so one download covers all three. During early access the download is free; when the app becomes paid, anyone who downloaded it while free keeps it on every device signed in to the same Apple ID, with updates. If a device of your own ever asks you to pay, email hello@kopit.app.

- Open the App Store on the device you want and search for LiLi Cal — the listing is the same.
- You do not need a Mac to use the iPhone app; it works on its own.
- The early-adopter pledge covers Mac, iPhone, and iPad alike.

### What syncs, and how

Nothing about your calendar passes through our servers. Events and tasks live in the system Calendar and Reminders, which iCloud already keeps in step across your devices — LiLi Cal reads and writes them in place through EventKit. Days entries (birthdays, anniversaries, countdowns) and your preferences are LiLi Cal's own data; they sync through your private iCloud database in real time, and the switch for it is in Settings on each device.

- Events and tasks: system Calendar and Reminders via iCloud — nothing to set up.
- Days and settings: your private iCloud database; add a birthday on iPhone and it is on the Mac moments later.
- Turn iCloud Sync off on one device and that device goes local-only; the others are unaffected.

### Finding your way around on iPhone

The Mac panel's tabs become a tab bar. Month shows the grid with lunar dates, solar terms, festivals, and 休 / 班 marks; tap a day to see its events, tasks, and Days, or touch and hold to add something on that date. Agenda groups the week ahead by day, Tasks groups by due date, Days keeps your countdowns, and Focus (the Pomodoro) is off by default until you enable it in Settings. On iPad, and in landscape on larger iPhones, the list sits on the left and the selected item on the right.

- Tabs can be switched on or off and dragged into any order in Settings › Tabs.
- An iPhone shows up to four feature tabs plus Settings; extra tabs are hidden until you reorder.
- Three looks — warm paper, white, dark — or follow the system.

### Widgets replace the menu bar

Month, This Week, Agenda, Tasks, and Days widgets come in small, medium, and large, with an extra-large size on the iPad Home Screen, and a Days countdown for the Lock Screen. Tap any row to open that exact item. Widgets read a snapshot the app maintains, and day counts advance at midnight on their own, so the numbers stay right even if you have not opened the app.

- Touch and hold the Home Screen or Lock Screen › Add Widget › LiLi Cal.
- The This Week widget pages week by week and snaps back after five minutes.
- Open the app once after installing so the widgets have data to show.

### What differs from the Mac

The two apps share one core, so lunar dates, holidays, sync, and Days behave the same. The shells differ to fit each platform. On iPhone there is no menu bar and no keyboard-shortcut layer; appearance is three looks rather than eight accent colors; holiday subscriptions cover 33 countries and regions (the Mac adds ~150 via Nager.Date and any iCal / webcal link); and the Pomodoro is off by default. The Mac, in turn, lacks the This Week widget and the Lock Screen countdown.

- iPhone / iPad only: This Week widget, Lock Screen countdown, two-column iPad layout.
- Mac only: menu-bar panel, keyboard shortcuts, eight accent colors with a custom picker, iCal / webcal holiday links.
- Both: lunar calendar and solar terms, China holidays with 休 / 班, Calendar & Reminders sync, Days, meeting notifications with one-tap join.

## FAQ

### Do I have to buy LiLi Cal twice?

No. Mac, iPhone, and iPad are one universal purchase under one App Store listing. Download it while it is free and it is yours on every device; after the price change the early-adopter pledge covers all of them.

### Why is the Pomodoro tab missing on my iPhone?

Focus is off by default on iPhone and iPad. Turn it on in Settings › Tabs and it appears in the tab bar.

### My widgets are empty after installing.

Widgets read a snapshot written by the app. Open LiLi Cal once, grant Calendar and Reminders access, and the widgets fill in; after that they update on their own.
